ORganic Qualitative Analysis

Hey all you chemistry students. Now your computer can be your private tutor in Organic Chemistry Laboratory. ORQA (ORganic Qualitative Analysis) is an expert system which helps students identify organic unknowns in Organic Chemistry laboratory. ORQA knows more that 300 organic compounds and what tests are necessary for identifying each of them.

After a brief consultation with ORQA, it will identify the unknown. If ORQA cannot identify the unknown it will tell you which test to perform or redo in order to correctly identify the compound. It is a time saver and informative addition to the Qualitative Analysis laboratory.

Start of Consultation	Liquid or Solid?	Soluable in H2O?
This is the main screen where you start a consultation with ORQA.	The first question ORQA asks is if the unknown is a liquid or a solid.	In this case we found that it is soluable in H2O.

Results of the Lucas Test. Enter Primary Secondary, Tertiary, or Negative.	Enter the melting point of the 3,5-Dinitrobenzoate derivative	Once all the information is entered correctly, ORQA makes a diagnosis.

Expert Systems are a class of computer software that can advise, diagnose, analyze and consult. Expert Systems are a branch of Artificial Intelligence teaching computers to solve problems in order to help others solve similar problems. ORQA is an Expert System.

ORQA is only available for DOS at this time. It costs $15 and is available for immediate download. ORQA Requires DOS 3.0 or higher and 256K RAM. Color Optional. It works fine as a DOS application for all versions of Windows (3.1/95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP).
